What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a form of wellness care that treats the neuromusculoskeletal system, which refers to the nerves, muscles, and bones of the body. Chiropractic is based on scientific research that shows the body is capable of healing and rebalancing itself when the proper conditions are provided.

Chiropractic treats the nerves, muscles, bones, and joints of the body by helping to restore them to alignment and balance. Together, with the body’s own self-healing ability, chiropractic is often able to produce remarkable recoveries and restore ideal function in the body.

Will chiropractic help with my pain?

If you’re experiencing back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, or any other type of pain associated with the nerves, muscles, and joints of the body, you may be wondering if chiropractic care can help. Chiropractic focuses on the treatment of the nerves, muscles, and joints, and often successfully corrects imbalances and reduces (or eliminates) pain.

Be sure to communicate with your chiropractor any symptoms or discomfort you’re experiencing so that they can understand where to place special attention.

Does chiropractic treatment hurt?

No! Chiropractic treatment is a gentle therapeutic that most patients find to be very relaxing and refreshing. Chiropractic treatments should never cause pain, even when treating a tender area. If you are in pain or concerned about a condition or symptom, be sure to communicate it with your chiropractor prior to treatment.

Does chiropractic care have negative side effects?

Chiropractic care provides a healing, rebalancing effect to the entire body. Patients often describe experiencing less pain, more clarity and energy, and more mobility and flexibility after treatment.

Chiropractic is not known to have any negative side effects.

Is chiropractic the same massage therapy?

Although the two are complementary to one another, chiropractic care is not the same as massage therapy.

While massage therapy is a wonderful therapeutic for improving circulation, organ function, and overall health, it does not treat the nerves and joints in the same way that chiropractic care does. Chiropractic care addresses misalignment in the spine and joints, as well as inflammation in the nerves and nerve interference.

I don't feel any pain, do I still need a chiropractor?

Misalignment in the spine and joints often exists for years before becoming severe enough to cause pain. Unfortunately, waiting so long for treatment can make misalignment more difficult to treat.

Even if you don’t feel pain, seeing a chiropractor is an excellent idea to stave off future problems, treat any misalignment that already exists, and boost overall wellness.

Do you take x-rays and why is it necessary?

Yes. X-rays are a necessary part of the diagnostic process to ensure that any injuries or misalignments are appropriately treated.

The amount of radiation generated by an x-ray is about the same amount as what the average person is exposed to over the course of ten days.

What should I expect on my first visit to a chiroprator?

On your first visit, you will receive a detailed assessment from your expert chiropractor to determine the root cause of any symptoms or conditions you may be experiencing. This may include a series of x-rays, a visual analysis, advanced digital imaging, and muscle strength tests. You may also receive an adjustment or another form of chiropractic treatment.
